Information for AuthorsThe SW&S-Journal is an Open Access Online Journal for Social Work and Social Policy. As an international journal the SW&S-Journal is using English as a standard language. Articles, Essays, and Reports will primarily be published in English. Publication in other languages is possible. Non-English papers have a comprehensive abstract with at least 400-500 words in English. Authors, interested in matters of social work, social welfare and social policy are very welcome to submit contributions of various kinds: Articles, Scholarly Papers, Essays, Book Reviews, and Research Reports Please note that submission is only possible by e-mail. All attachments should be in Rich Text Format .rtf. All submitted papers have to be formatted (see below). The SW&S-Journal consists of specific sections.

Articles (5000 - 8000 words)The SW&S-Journal is happy to receive papers on topics concerning social work and society from all fields of social work, social welfare and social policy. Once articles are submitted they will be peer-reviewed by at least two referees. There will be a feedback of the comments of the referees to the authors by the paper editor who will make the final decisions about publication, revision/resubmission or rejection of articles. Research Reports & Research ArticlesThe SW&S-Journal invites researchers to submit manuscripts reporting about new research findings on social work and social policy - current or completed. It is also possible to submit reports and descriptions of successful research applications. (1) Research Reports (400-1000 words)A research note should include concise information on: the researcher/s, the hosting university / department / research institute; the character of the research, (e.g. research project, doctoral thesis, etc,); the time frame, resources and funding; the field of research, issues and research questions; strategies and methods of data collection and data analysis; (interim) results, outcome and open questions. (2) Research Articles (1000-3000 words)Research articles should present an in-depth discussion of topical questions and challenges in research (as listed above), present innovative approaches and methods and thought-provoking methodological issues. It is not designed to present the findings of research. Book Reviews (1000 - 3000 words)Social work- and social policy-related publications will be discussed in the Book Review-Section. The SW&S-Journal is pleased to receive book reviews on current published books. Historical Portraits (3000 - 5000 words)A special section of the SW&S-Journal, the Historical Portraits Section introduces a relevant person in the history social work - mostly of a special national background - to the world-wide social work community. Essays (1000 - 3000 words)Current problems, issues and controversial matters in social work can be discussed in Comments or Essays in the Essays-Section of the SW&S-Journal.
